I’ve been reading a few articles on Engadget about the Google Glass experience and I have to say, I’m starting to get really excited. When I initially heard about the project, I was really skeptical about the practicality and benefits, but the more I read, the cooler it seems. Especially since I still don’t even have a smart phone (!)
I like the idea of being able to always be camera-ready, but apparently the developer version cameras aren’t fantastic quality. I’m not sure if there’s a plan in place to upgrade that for the consumer edition. Not having had a smart phone, it’s been hard to get behind the Instagram/Vine/etc. craze, but I have definitely had a few moments where I wished I had a decent camera on me.
I do wonder whether or not this will actually be a popular, every day device – I can imagine there will be a lot of settings where it won’t be appropriate (i.e. movie theatres) or it could be really awkward (like on a date) but when it does become mainstream, I feel like it will make a huge difference in terms of how data is collected and publicly crowd-sourced.
